Pittsburgh tech community remembers Steve Jobs

Apple cofounder Steve Jobs’ passing Wednesday will be felt keenly in Pittsburgh, where his influence and revolutionary thinking sparked a burgeoning high-tech industry.

Jobs will be remembered as the larger-than-life visionary whose efforts helped create and recreate the home computer in the 1970s and 1980s, started NeXT Computer and turned Pixar into a force in the movie business before creating the iPod, iPhone and iPad.

“It’s a huge loss to the technology industry,” said Sean Ammirati, COO of ReadWriteWeb and a leading light in the Pittsburgh tech industry.
