Ludo gives DropKicker app new purpose, new name

Steve Jobs and Apple Inc.’s iPad might be the poster child for how entrepreneurs sometimes get an idea for a product, then scramble to imagine how consumers will use such a thing.

This seems to have been the case for a software application developed last year by Oakland-based Ludo Mechanica LLC, which helps people give the boot to bad habits. Users of the app self-report behavioral and health data and then receive texted encouragement from trainers, friends and others to stick to their goals.
